Abstract

547,502. Feeding like articles. BEST, C., and MOLINS MACHINE CO., Ltd. Feb. 28, 1941, No. 2774. [Class 78 (i)] Hollow articles E, such as bullet envelopes, which are fed in line down a chute 41 so that they nest together, have the nesting grip of the penultimate envelope on the bottom one, which is about to be discharged, broken by automatically operated pressing members. The pressing members comprise a spring- urged fork 45 working through a slot between upper and lower guides 61, 62 and a rockable member 43 working through vertical slots in the side facing the fork 45. Both fork 45 and member 43 bear on the penultimate envelope near its base, and rock it back and forth to loosen its grip on the bottom envelope. During the rocking the bottom envelope is supported by a stop 40 mounted on an axially reciprocating rod 55. The stop 40 and the member 43 are moved in unison by a lever rocked by any suitable moving part of the machine. Specifications 545,661 and 547,501 are referred to.
