Abstract

Coatings of antimony tri-sulphide and antimony oxy-sulphide are evaporated successively on a base to form a photoconductive member for use in TV camera tubes or photocells. The coating operations may overlap in time to produce a transitional layer of mixed composition by raising the temperature of an evaporator with pockets for each material gradually from 400 to 600 DEG C. The vacuum is e.g. 10-5 mm. Hg. The base is of glass with a conductive coating of gold, trichloride (which is deposited on a heated surface) or indium.
