Abstract

A layer of cyrstalline lead iodide or cadmium iodide is formed on a support such as of glass by deposition from the vapour phase. The layer may also contain silver iodide. The coated support may be heated at between 170 and 190 DEG C. and exposed to a pattern of ionizing radiation.
