Abstract

853,182. Sight mountings for small arms. LEITZ (CANADA) Ltd., E. Feb. 11, 1958 [Feb. 18, 1957], No. 4420/58. Class 119. [Also in Groups XX and XXV] A device for securing a telescopic sight 13 to a weapon 1 comprises two elongated blocks 14, 3 respectively unitary with or attached by screws to the sight and the weapon, a spring-loaded automaticallyengaging latch bolt 5 being provided for holding the blocks together and the blocks having longitudinally-extending complementarily shaped bearing surfaces 18, 17, .Fig. 4, which on each block are disposed after the manner of the two non-parallel sides of a prism having the cross-section of a trapezium. The block 14 is provided with pins 15, 12 for engaging a recess 16 in the block 3 and the nose 11c of the bolt 5 which is housed in a cavity 4 in the latter block, the recess 16 and the nose 11c having slanting portions 16a and 11b respectively which force the blocks 14, 3 together. A stud 8 fixed to the bolt 5 is engaged by a lever 10, pivoted on the block 3, for retraction of the bolt 5 to release the pin 12.
