Abstract

468,237. Telescope sights. TAYLOR, W., and KAPELLA, Ltd. Jan. 3, 1936, Nos. 249 /36 and 14 /37. [Class 119] A telescope sight is pivotally attached to a rifle on an axis substantially parallel to and in one plane with the axis of the sight and of the rifle respectively. As shown, the telescope A is provided with a pair of lugs B, C integral with the telescope or with a bar E secured to the telescope by screws D. The rifle R is similarly provided with a pair of lugs F, G integral with the rifle or with a bar I secured to the rifle by screws H. Holes J, K are bored through the lugs F, G parallel to the axis of the rifle ; the lugs B, C are fitted with pivots j, k parallel with the axis of the telescope ; and the pivots are inserted into the corresponding holes J, K from the rear. To ensure interchangeability irrespective of small variations in size, the holes are broached over 60‹ at one side k1, Fig. 2, and spring plungers N are provided to press the pivots against the edges of these broached parts. One at least of the pivots is made with a flat co-operating with the spring plunger to hold the sight in operative position, and if desired also with another flat P for holding the sight in the off position. The engagement of the plunger with these flats also prevents the withdrawal of the sight except when the sight is turned out of these extreme positions.
