Abstract

848,874. Hydraulic overhead hoists. DAVIDSON, J., and HUTCHINSON, A. Dec. 27, 1956 [Dec. 28, 1955; July 16, 1956], Nos. 37127/55 and 21926/56. Classes 78 (2) and 78(4). An overhead hoist running on wheels 14, 15 along girder 16 is operated by piston 11 of cylinder 10 the piston carrying pulleys 33, 34 which reciprocate to elevate or lower load hook 39, by means of cable 35 passing around said pulleys. The hoist is controlled by four-way valve 21 operated via lever 31 by pull chains 27, 28, which latter also at the same time operate switch 32 of electric motor 18 driving pump 19, which circulates fluid in the hydraulic circuit 22, 23, 24, 25. Valve 21 operates progressively so that the speed of movement of the load can be varied. Safety valves may also be included in the hydraulic circuit. The hoist may be traversed along the girder by an hydraulic motor (not shown) supplied by said pump 19.
