Abstract

845,356. Presses for separating liquids from solids. LANDSVERK A. B. April 27, 1959 [Jan. 7, 1959], No. 14340/59. Class 46. The screw of a screw extrusion press is driven by a gear ring through which material being pressed may pass. Material fed into a hopper 18, Fig. 1, by an auxiliary screw 24 is further fed to the main screw 1 by obliquelyarranged arms 13 which secure a gear ring 14 to a hub 12 keyed to the axle neck 6 of the screw 1. Sealing rings 19 are provided between an upper flange 16 on the gear ring and the lower end of the hopper, and also between a lower flange 17 on the gear ring and a flange secured to a fixed frame 10. An upper bearing 8 for the axle neck 6 is supported by arms 9 from the frame 10. In Fig. 2 the gear ring is welded to the edges of screw blades 27, the bearing 8 is above it, and oblique feeding blades 28, 29 are secured to a hood 21 surmounting the axle neck 6. The degree of taper of the screw 1 decreases abruptly at a point below the part shown.
