Abstract
837,780. Presses for separating liquids from solids. GORIOT, E. July 23, 1957 [July 24, 1956 ; April 11, 1957], No. 23354/57. Class 46. Material is introduced under pressure at 78 and fed and compressed between an inner fixed filter member 41 and an outer rotary impervious member 48 by helices 60 to 64 integral with the outer member. The outer member is driven by a motor 57 through a pinion 59 and gear 59a, the latter being detachable from the outer member at 77a to enable a frame structure 55, 56 (which supports the outer member in bearings 67, 67a) to be wheeled away from the inner member. A slidable obturator 72 is mounted in a cylindrical extension 55a of the frame structure. Filtrate may be drawn off at 74 or 75. Heat may be supplied by a coil 76 or by a jacket shown dotted at 79.
