Abstract

949,698. Presses for separating liquids from solids. A. WEHNER. March 16, 1962 [March 17, 1961], No. 10101/62. Heading B1D. An endless band 1, Figs. I and 2, is mounted on edge in a housing 13 and is subdivided by partitions 3, the edges of the partitions remote from band 1 being joined e.g. by a further band 2. On compression at the right of the casing, liquid flows downwards through a permeable bottom 15, Fig. 1, of the housing, or else through the band 1 (made permeable for the purpose) and through perforations 5<SP>1</SP> of a guide drum 5. The surface of the drum 5 and of a driving roller 14, and the inner surface of the band 1, may be made undulating to impart vibrations to the band during its circulation. The mixture is fed in at 8. Solids fall through an opening 9 and may be assisted therethrough by compressed air or a plunger applied at 12. (The invention is apparently in part a development of Figs. 7 to 10 of Specification 800,355, which is referred to).
