Abstract
1,063,265. Jigging apparatus; froth flotation. KHARKOVSKY GORNY INSTITUTE. June 8, 1964 [March 8, 1963], No. 9235/63. Heading B2H. A jig has a perforated diaphragm beneath which air is introduced to move the diaphragm up and down and to blow air through it for froth flotation. In the Fig. the diaphragm 7 is mounted in a frame connected by bellows 13, 15, to fixed frames 1, 14. A bed 11 of glass balls or felspar on a screen 2 is fed with lump coal through an inlet 9 and with coal slime treated with a froth flotation agent through inlet 10. The diaphragm is guided vertically on rods (not shown) and urged downwardly by springs, and is reciprocated by intermittent opening of rotary air valve 6. Foam is removed by blades 18 traversing the apparatus on endless chains. Coal concentrate at 24 is removed through valve 22, while rock passes through bed 11 and screen 2. The diaphragm is sloped so that the rock passes into ducts 26 containing bellows 26'. The jig may be of such length that rock falls on the left hand part of the diaphragm, and coal passing through the bed on to the right hand part. Since froth removal takes place at right angles to the flow of material, the flotation concentrate may be subdivided.
