843,899. Printing machines. AMERICAN TYPE FOUNDERS CO. Inc. Nov. 17, 1958 [Jan. 17, 1958], No. 36946/58. Class 100(2) In a rotary web offset printing press which prints simultaneously on both sides of a web 20, the blanket cylinders 25, 26 or 251, 261 are disposed as shown in Figs. 2 or 4 respectively in relation to their plate cylinders 27, 28, or 27<SP>1</SP>, 23<SP>1</SP>, thereby diverting the web from its normal horizontal path to increase its area of contact with the blanket cylinders and maintain such contact during passage of the gaps 60 (Fig. 3 not shown) in the blanket cylinders. Thus, as the web is always gripped between the blanket cylinders loss of register is avoided. The press may comprise two identical units 11, 12 (Fig. 1 not shown).
