Abstract

968,536. Printing-machines. C. ALLERS ETABLISSEMENT A.S. Jan. 20, 1961 [Jan. 21, 1960], No. 2294/60. Heading B6C. In a rotary offset printing machine the width of the printing units is reduced by disposing two co-operating blanket cylinders B<SP>1</SP>, B<SP>2</SP>, also acting as impression cylinders to one another, to one side of a line joining the centres XY of plate cylinders P<SP>1</SP>, P<SP>2</SP>. The cylinders B<SP>1</SP>, B<SP>2</SP> print on either side of a web W, while if desired a further plate cylinder P<SP>3</SP> engaging the cylinder B<SP>2</SP> permits printing in a second colour on one side. Units 5, 6 (Fig. 2, not shown) are arranged in end-to-end relationship for printing on separate webs W associated at 9 before folding and delivery.
