Abstract

1,158,470. Rotary offset presses. SCHNELLPRESSENFABRIK KOENIG & BAUER A.G. 3 Nov., 1966 [Nov., 1965], No. 49300/66. Heading B6C. In a sheet-fed five cylinder rotary offset press which may be used for perfecting or two-colour printing on one side of each sheet, pressure fluid actuated toggle lever units are provided to swing a blanket cylinder 3 and its associated plate cylinder 4 into engagement with a common impression cylinder 1 to enable two-colour offset printing to be effected on a sheet passing between a blanket cylinder 2 and the impression cylinder 1 prior to passage between the cylinders 1 and 3, or to swing the cylinders 3 and 4 away from the impression cylinder 1 and into engagement with the cylinder 2 to enable simultaneous printing on both sides of the sheet as it passes between the blanket cylinders 2 and 3. For the perfecting operation the impression cylinder acts as a sheet transfer cylinder, grippers being provided for this purpose. The fifth cylinder of the press is a plate cylinder, not shown, associated with the blanket cylinder 2.
