A small synchronous motor is rendered quieter by disposing the interditated stator teeth 1, 2, alternately radially and axially of the permanently magnetized rotor 4 so that the bearings have both axial and radial loading. The coil C is mounted on an insulating frame 12 located by lugs engaging between the inner or outer stator teeth. Both sets of teeth may form cylindrical surfaces.
