Abstract

1,262,213. Machines with permanent magnets. TAI KAM WONG. 19 Dec., 1969, No. 61924/69. Heading H2A. A dynamo-electric machine comprises a multi-polar permanent magnet rotor 21, an annular winding 6, and sheet-metal magnetic members 1, 11, disposed one at each end of the winding 6, having interdigitated peripheral pole pieces 3, 13 forming a circular array around the permanent magnet. The winding 6 has a magnetic core 9 which is secured to a portion 16 of a stationary shaft 15. The permanent magnet 21 is secured within a housing 20 around a collar 19, the collar 19 resting on a disc 17 on the shaft 15 to form a thrust bearing. The machine may be a motor or generator.
