Abstract

841,133. Tuning cavity resonators. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. July 20, 1956 [Aug. 6, 1955], No. 22696/55. Class 40(8). [Also in Group XL(a)] A resonator 2 of the re-entrant type, forming e.g. part of a klystron, is tuned by means of a conductive plate movable radially towards and away from the re-entrant part 3. As shown in Fig. 4, the plate 5 is in one piece and is of such a width that the path swept out by its edges would pass on either side of the re-entrant part 3 if produced. This improves the linearity of the tuning characteristic. In a modification, the plate consists of two connected wing portions which may lie in approximately the same plane or may include an angle of 90 degrees. The wing portions 9, 10 of Fig. 8 are attached separately to a yoke 14 movable upon a rod 15.
