Abstract
839,127. Gas burners. CALOR GAS (DISTRIBUTING) CO. Ltd., and EVANS, E. G. Dec. 23, 1957 [Oct. 23, 1956], No. 32248/56. Class 75(1) A gas burner particularly for glass blowing comprises a burner head formed of two coaxial tubes, the inner tube 3 terminating in a jet nozzle 5 and connecting at 9 through a control tap 10 with a source of air under pressure and the outer tube 4, having an external axially adjustable sleeve 6 with an inturned annular edge 7 for directing the gas issuing from the tube 4 towards the nozzle 5. The tubes are mounted in a T-piece 8 the outer tube communicating in the T-piece mounting with one end of a hollow body portion 14-15 connected through a nipple 16 with a gas supply connected at 12 and controlled by a tap 13. The gas feeds through a Venturi 17 into the outer tube 4. An auxiliary air inlet aperture 19 formed in the body portion 15 is controlled by a sleeve 20, Fig. 2 provided with a cutaway portion 20a on one side. The body portion 14 is mounted on a horizontal pivot 23 on a support 22 mounted in a vertical pivot in a supporting base 21 and locked in position by wing nut 25 and nut 24. Oxygen may be fed into the tube 3 through a needle-type valve located upstream of the T-piece 8 for controlling the oxygen bleed into the tube 3.
