Abstract
707,650. Blowpipe burners. RAINSFORD & LYNES, Ltd., and LYNES, R. K. April 22, 1952 [April 24, 1951], No. 9453/51. Class 75 (1) In a blowpipe burner for welding and brazing adapted to burn fuel such as butane or methane a venturi tube 27 is axially adjustable within a perforated portion 25a of the burner tube relatively to a gas inlet jet 26 for controlling the turbulance of the fuel-air mixture within the tube by varying the ratio of the air induced by the gas stream into the venturi inlet 27c to that induced by the gas-air mixture discharging through the venturi outlet into a non-perforated part of the burner tube. The venturi tube 27 has a peripherally threaded flange 27a engaging with a threaded part of the perforated length 25a of the burner tube, and is adjusted axially by a screw-driver or like tool which is engaged in notches 27b at the forward end of the venturi tube 27. The gas is supplied from a liquified gas container through a flexible hose (not shown) connecting with a nipple 16 at one end of a tube 15 passing coaxially through a handle 17 for holding the burner in use. From the tube 15 the gas passes to the jet 26 through passages 14a, 14d, 14e, 14f in a member 14, a manually operable regulating valve 19 being provided at the outlet end of the passage 14d.
