Abstract
837,112. Pipe joints. ALCO PRODUCTS Inc. Jan. 11, 1957, No. 1190/57. Class 99(1). A gasket 15 sealing the joint between inner and outer pipes 10, 11 of a heat exchanger is forced against the end of the outer pipe by a ring 13 clamped by bolts 14 and separate means 21, 32, are provided to urge the pipe 10 to the right so that a shoulder 16 thereon is forced into sealing engagement with the gasket 15. The end of pipe 10 is provided with a ring 21 which abuts a spilt locking ring 19 and is engaged by bolts 27 of a flange 24 connecting the flanged end 22 of a pipe 17 to the pipe 10. The ring 21 is also provided with screwed bolts 32 which engage the ring 13 and, when screwed up, force the ring 21 and pipe 10 to the right to force the shoulder 16 against gasket 15.
