Abstract

1,093,159. Pipe couplings. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. June 15, 1966 [June 18, 1965], No. 26782/66. Heading F2G. In a coupling wherein coaxial pipes 4, 5 may be subjected to relative displacement by rotation of at least one pipe about the axis X-X, each pipe is welded to a flange 1 provided with an annular projection 15 which forms a seal with a joint 2 of polytetrafluoroethylene and the latter have co-operating annular grooves and tongues of rectangular and trapezoidal cross-section respectively; the joints are attached to the flanges by studs or dowel-pins 14 and the flanges are drawn toward each other by counter-flanges 3 connected by bolts and nuts 18, 19 the assembly having a degree of flexibility imparted thereto by springs 21.
