836,375. Potato-top thrashers. MACDONALD, L. Dec. 22, 1958 [Sept. 28, 1957], No. 30448/57. Class 6(3). A potato-top thrasher comprises a frame 1 carried on tractor hitch-links 3, 4 and having a rotary transverse shaft 5 driven from the powertake-off 13 of the tractor 2, the shaft carrying sets of rubber beater arms 15 of differing lengths so that they follow the contours of the potatoridges 17. The drive to the shaft is a two-stage chain-drive 6, 10 via a sprocket 8 on a layshaft 9. A cover 16 surrounds the beaters which are arranged in axially-spaced sets, the brackets 18 carrying the arms of the different sets being staggered around the shaft 5.
