Abstract
673,341. Thrashing-machines. CASHMORE, W. H., HAMBLIN, H. J., RAYBOULD, F. W., and BRITISH SOCIETY FOR RESEARCH IN AGRICULTURAL ENGINEERING. Oct. 10, 1950, No. 24749/50. Class 58 Apparatus for thrashing cereals comprises an endless flexible band 1 passing around two or more rollers 2, 3 of which at least one (2) is driven, the band carrying a succession of suitable projections 7 which thresh the grain as they pass close to a suitably shaped grid 6 capable of performing the same function as the concave of a conventional threshing drum by being provided with a series of projections 6a across the path of flow of the crop within the machine, thereby enabling the projections on the band to knock out the grains from the ears. As shown the endless belt provided with rasp bars or pegs 7 passes round cylinders 2, 3, the former being driven, and threshes grain brought up on a conveyer 4 and deflected by canvas 5 between the belt 7 and the grid 6 by action against the raised portions 6a thereon. The crop travels over a straight grid 8, the threshed grain falling into receptacles 10, 11 and the straw and threshed ears passing out at 9. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the portion 8 is bent to follow the path of the endless belt at this point which is bent by means of an idler intermediate the two cylinders and is also curved round the lower part of the smaller cylinder. 2. A stripping drum is also provided in the path of the straw outlet.
