Abstract
833,534. Air supply to travelling grates. HODGKINSON (SALFORD) Ltd., J. Aug. 1, 1958 [May 10, 1957], No. 14854/57. Class 51 (1). Air under pressure is fed through ducts C, open at the inner end, at either side of a travelling grate, baffles E directing the air towards the outer end of the space between the runs of the grate, which is closed by a plate E<SP>1</SP>. Plates b<SP>1</SP>, b<SP>2</SP> restrict the passage of air through the grate at each end, and the sloping inner walls d<SP>3</SP> of the air ducts C direct ashes falling through the upper run on to the lower run, and improve the distribution of air transversely of the grate. Since the outer end of the space between the grate runs is closed, the static air pressure increases from the inner end of the grate to the outer end.
