805,225. Solid fuel fired boilers. PROCTOR Ltd., J. Oct. 17, 1956 [Oct. 28, 1955], No. 30851/55. Class 51 (1). A boiler 10 with a mechanical stoker which includes a hopper 14, ram box 16, ram 13 and a mechanical shovel has an inclined plate 18 in the hopper to provide a space 17 into which air is led by a flexible metal pipe 22 from an air duct 26. The pipe 22 is connected to an opening 21 in the ram box 16 by a coupling 20, and a butterfly valve 28 housed in a pipe coupling 24 on the duct regulates the amount of air passing through the pipe 22. A damper may be inserted in the coupling 20 instead of the valve 28 and a rigid pipe may replace the flexible pipe 22.
