Abstract

830,950. Gun carriages. BREVETS AERO-MECANIQUES S. A. Feb. 4, 1958 [Feb. 19, 1957], No. 3650/58. Class 92 A towed vehicle having a power source 12 on its chassis 1 to lay a gun 5, radar, or other instrument rotatable thereon can be self-propelled for manoeuvre at its operational site using power from its own power source. The gun and its support 6 rotate together on a pivot 8. The power source is an internal combustion engine 12 driving a generator 13 which is connected through a collector 14 and brushes 14a to a motor 15 which rotates the support 6 under control of a switch 18 and a rheostat 19. Alternatively the power may be diverted through a switch 23 and rheostat 24 to drive motors 21 which can turn the road wheels at a chosen speed in either direction. Hydraulic or mechanical means may be used instead of electricity to transmit power.
