705,054. Motor vehicles. METROPOLITAN RAILCARS (GANZ PATENTS), Ltd., and LEHEL, V. April 28, 1950 [April 28, 1949], No. 11370/49. Drawings to Specification. Class 79(3) [Also in Group XXXV] In a motor driven vehicle, such as a dieselelectric locomotive, having a number of pairs of track wheels, the prime-mover is mechanically coupled to at least one pair of track wheels and also drives a generator which is connected through switchgear to an electric motor permanently coupled to another pair of track wheels, so that the vehicle may be propelled by either a mechanical or electric transmission. A further motor may be coupled to the wheels normally driven direct by the prime-mover, the mechanical transmission being disabled when this motor is in use. The change-over from one type of transmission to the other may be controlled by a governor driven from a wheel of the vehicle.
