Hydraulic transmission apparatus.-A locomotive is driven by an internal-combustion engine or other prime mover through an hydraulic transmission which is also used for braking the vehicle and is for this purpose coupled with an electric generator or other auxiliary engine. The hydraulic transmission B is driven through a shaft h from the prime mover g and is coupled to a generator i which may charge a battery for lighting or starting. Specifications 2019/10 and 26544/10, [both in Class 135, Valves &c.], 10261/11, and 21166/14, [Class 69 (ii), Hydraulic presses &c.] are referred to.
