Abstract
830,499. Motor vehicle driving gear. COUNTY COMMERCIAL CARS Ltd. March 24, 1958 [Sept. 10, 1957], No. 28576/57. Class 79(2) A vehicle transmission has a main driving shaft 50 coupling the gear box to a bevel pinion 42 and crown wheel 27 driving one of the wheel shafts 10 and an intermediate shaft 46 coupling a shaft 26 connected by spur gears 34, 39 to the pinion 42 with a second shaft 26 connected by a similar but laterally inverted arrangement with a bevel pinion and crown wheel driving another of the wheel shafts 10. The shaft 46 is inclined to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle and connected by universal joints 47 with the shafts 26. Each axle assembly is mounted in a banjo type casing 12 secured to the central portion of a half elliptical multiple leaf spring, the adjacent ends of the springs being connected by links to opposite ends of a rocker arm mounted on the chassis to which the remote ends of the springs are pivotally secured direct.
