Transmission gearing between separate axles; change-speed gearing.- In six-wheeled motor vehicles having the wheels on the centre and rear axles driven, the centre wheels 20 are driven through Cardan shafts 6, and the rear wheels through a Cardan shaft 8 from bevel-gearing 3, 4, 7 mounted in a casing rigidly connected with the change-speed gearbox 23. The gear-box is fixed to the chassis frame, and the rear wheel gearing 9, 10 may either be mounted on the axle as shown, or may be carried by the frame. The rear wheels may be steered, and in that case are driven through universal joints in line with the steering pivots.
