[Also in Group XVIII] A lorry provided with a hopper 1 for coal, a conveyer 2 for delivering the coal through an outlet to sacks 6 which are supported through a cradle 4<SP>1</SP>, 42, 5 on a weighing platform 3<SP>1</SP>, and an hydraulic ram 12 which raises the cradle and sack to shoulder height through a lever 10, has a solenoid operated catch (Fig. 4, not shown) which prevents operation of the handle controlling the ram until the sack contains a predetermined weight of coal. The weigh pan 31 operates a mercury switch (Fig. 3, not shown) which controls the catch. A counter is provided to totalize the number of weighings made.
