Abstract

1,011,653. Automatic feed weighers. O. HOFLIGER and R. KARG [trading as HOFLIGER & KARG]. Dec. 9, 1963 [Dec. 8, 1962], No. 48589/63. Heading G1W. In a weighing apparatus for measuring out quantities of fluent material, weigh containers or pans 8, 9 (Fig. 1) fed by vibrating conveyer feeders 11, 10 respectively are hung alternately on a carrier 3 of a weigher unit 1 such that the change over from one container to the other always takes place at the commencement of discharge or during the discharge of the one container. The weigher 1 may be electronic (not discribed) and may control solenoids, to stop the feed to and to lift a filled container off the carrier 3 and open a bottom discharge flap thereof, also to place the other container on the weigher. The containers may be suspended from the carrier by bows 6, 7. In an alternative embodiment Fig. 4 (not shown), the two containers are suspended from a ring which is suspended from a spring balance and a photo-electric device detects the extension of the spring balance when the load reaches a predetermined weight and initiates the stopping of the feed and the changeover from one container to the other. Instead of by solenoids the containers may be lifted and the flaps opened by cams. Each pan may be fed by two conveyers one for initial filling and the second for topping up.
