Abstract

825,214. Electric air heaters. CUNNING- HAM, W. C. Feb. 25, 1957 [Feb. 24, 1956], No. 5881/56. Class 39(3) An electric space heater, comprising one or more heating elements 30 disposed within and near the outlet of a vertical air shaft 12, 14 which tapers from an inlet at its base to an outlet at its other end, and an electric fan 16, 17 located at the inlet so as to blow air through the shaft, has a baffle plate spaced beyond the outlet so as to spead the discharge of heated air downwardly. As shown, the heater has three elements and is provided with a portable casing 1, the lid 6 of which constitutes the baffle plate, heated air being deflected downwardly through the peripheral gaps between the casing walls and flanges 7 which depend from the lid. Switch means (not shown) allow one or two elements to be switched on or off, the third element together with the fan being operated by a main switch which may be thermostatically controlled.
