Abstract
841,913. Electric drying apparatus. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Nov. 28, 1958 [Nov. 28, 1957], No. 37165/57. Class 39(3). Apparatus for the force drying of inflammable finishes comprises sheathed wire heating elements 1 clamped onto the back surface 2 of a metal panel 3 which forms the front wall of an enclosure 5. The plate has perforations 6 and is blackened to provide a radiant heating surface of high emissivity. A flow of compressed air from an inlet 8 passes through the perforations 6 away from the blackened surface 7, thus preventing any inflammable vapour from coming into contact with the heating elements. Insulating material 10 reduces heat loss through the back of the enclosure. Switching on of the heating elements may be controlled by an airflow switch.
