745,700. Drying by electric heating. METROPOLITAN-VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. Aug. 25, 1954 [Oct. 8, 1953], No. 27713/53. Class 39(3). [Also in Group XIII] An infra-red electric heater for use in drying paints, &c., has an element 2 enclosed by the projecting front walls 1 of an air pressure chamber 5 which forms a reflector, the legs of the element being partitioned from one another by U-shaped baffles 3 between which are air holes 4 in the chamber 5 so that jets of air are projected outwards to prevent volatile solvents &c., of low-flash-point reaching the heater. If the air pressure falls below a predetermined value a device 7 cuts off the electrical supply. The baffles 3 prevent cooling of the heater by the air jets.
