Abstract

807,794. Drying yarn. LINEN THREAD CO. Ltd. Nov. 23, 1956 [Nov. 26, 1955], No. 33953/55. Class 34(2) Apparatus for drying wound packages of yarn comprises a stationary unit for creating a current of air and a co-operating truck, for supporting the packages, movable to a position where the packages are subject to the action of air, from the stationary unit which is blown through the packages. In the form described the stationary unit 10 comprises a fan 11 which blows air into a heating chamber 12 and thence through a coupling 13 into a chamber 15 having wheel-receiving channels. The truck 19 consists of a base 20 on which is supported a chamber 22 the sloping sides 23 of which have apertures into which project perforate spigots 24 supporting the perforate tubes upon which the cones 27 are wound. The cones 27 are held in place by means of toggle clamp arms (see Fig. 5, not shown). When the truck is in position the coupling 13 is connected to a corresponding coupling 35 Fig. 3 (not shown), on the truck so that heated air is blown into the chamber 22 and passes through the packages into the chamber 15 from which it may be recirculated.
