Abstract
824,987. Temporary roadways. MURPHY, A. V., and BRITISH REINFORCED CONCRETE ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. June 3, 1958 [March 21, 1957], No. 9332/57. Class 107 A unit for a temporary road is made of two wire mesh sheets spaced apart by a series of parallel wooden rods and fastened together by clips. The mesh is preferably made from steel wire of # to # inch diameter spaced between 2 and 4 inches apart and welded at their points of intersection. As shown, the unit comprises two sheets of wire mesh formed of longitudinal wires 10 and cross wires 11 between which are sandwiched wooden palings 12 held together by two twisted strands of wire 13. Clips 14, held togther by bolts 16 pass over some of the cross wires 11 to hold the sheets together. A clip formed as an S-shaped hook member is also described and illustrated. To facilitate joining one unit to the next, the top sheet may be displaced from the bottom sheet to provide an overlap between the units which may be connected by further clips.
