Abstract

704,433. Roofs. DENNING, R. M. Aug. 11, 1952 [Feb. 25, 1952], No. 4926/52. Class 20 (4) A roof truss comprises two wooden rafters 1, 2, braced together by triangulated frame units 6, 7, forming struts to which ties are welded. The upper ends of rafters 1, 2 are bolted within a metal clip 3 and their lower ends are secured to shoes 4, 5,. The truss units 6, 7 are formed from angle-section steel with welded corners and have their bases connected to the under edges of the rafters 1, 2. The dependent apices are provided with rings 8, 9 to which one end of each of four tie rods are welded, the other ends being welded to the clip 3 and shoes 4, 5 and a fifth tie rod is welded between the rings 8, 9. In a modified truss for greater spans two triangulated strut units are attached to each rafter and adjoining units may have a common base. The rings joining the apices of the strut units have a steel or like blanking piece inserted in each end for additional strength.
