Abstract

1,049,861. Erecting arch-form buildings. G. V. SMITH. July 22, 1963 [April 30, 1962], No. 12202/62. Heading E1A. A building 1 of arch form is erected by constructing two halves of the arch in two centerings 2, 3 which are pivoted on their lower ends to join at the crown of the arch. The half arches rest on outer rollers in the centerings and are secured in position by inner rollers. The half arches are of blocks laid in the centerings. The blocks may be concrete, or the base may be concrete blocks and the upper portion of hollow perforated metal, built up plywood units or girder construction joined together by running concrete through them. The arch may be covered with sheet metal, bitumen roofing etc.
