617,888. Portable buildings; walls and roofs. BIGARD, A. J. E. L. Nov. 19, 1945, No. 31044. Convention date. Dec. 19, 1944. [Classes 20(i) and 20(iv)] A building of prefabricated elements has foundation members or footings 1, 2 bound to one another and resting directly on the ground, these elements gripping between them the bases 3 of the posts of the framework. Opposite footing elements are staggered with respect to one another, Fig. 2, and are joined by bolts 10 and dovetail joints 29. The ends of floor joists 7 are held in notches 6 in the inner elements 1 by means of metal straps 9 passing through the joists, some of these plates also serving to connect adjacent elements The upper ends of the uprights are connected by elements 17 resting on shoulders 12 and tied together by means of metal straps 21, 22. The straps 22 pass through the ends of trusses 14 resting on the tops of the uprights. The roof and outer walls are formed of overlapping tiles 16 which hook on to tenons 15 on the uprights and the roof trusses. The inner wall is formed of plaster plates 22b held at the foot by a U-section beam 26 and at the top by a butt-strap 27. The ceiling panels 28 rest on ledges 28b of the elements 17. The trusses 14 are tied together at the ridge by bracing (not shown).
