Abstract

385,359. Roofs. KATONA, F., 6, Istvan-Ut, Budapest. Sept. 14, 1931, No. 25775. [Class 20 (iv).] A roof comprises a number of metal frames 1, Fig. 1, supported on the outer walls of the building without cross struts or tie-bars, each frame supporting a pair of rafters 4 secured to the frame by cramps 5. The ends of the frame are sunk into the concrete supports 3 and are connected to the ceiling joists 7 by iron bars 8. The lower ends of the rafters rest against the outer parts of the supports 3. In the case of ceilings with wooden beams, these beams directly support the lower ends of the rafters. In the Mansard roof shown in Fig. 4, the frame 1 is connected to two rafters 4 which are connected to auxiliary rafters 41. In the modification shown in Fig. 5, the frame 1 is connected to both pairs of rafters 4, 41, the rafters 4 being secured to wooden cross-beams 10 which support the ceiling of the Mansard attic.
