Abstract

822,804. Display boxes. ROWNTREE & CO. Ltd. Jan. 11, 1956 [Feb. 10, 1955 ; May 10, 1955], Nos. 4057/55 and 13526/55. Class 18. [Also in Group XVIII] A display box has a hinge across the base between end walls divided into parts on either side of the hinge and joined by gussets, whereby the box may be folded about the base to form sloping opposed display containers. In one embodiment, the end wall parts 6-9, have tabs 12-15 entering slots 2-5 in the base, and one gusset 16 is integral with the wall part 7 and has an extension 17 glued to the wall part 6. Part 18 of this gusset may be folded in to prevent collapse when the box is in a display position. The other gusset 19 is separate member glued in position and has a display card 24 attached. This card may also be folded in. In another embodiment, Fig. 4 (not shown), the end wall parts have rectangular panels in lieu of the sectors 12-15, these panels being secured above the box base to form a false bottom. Both gussets are separate. The boxes may be of cardboard, as shown, or of rigid panels joined by fabric or other hinges. Partitions formed by L-shaped strips of cardboard, &c. with their ends secured to the side and end walls may be fitted.
