Abstract

A clip 8, Fig. 3, for attaching a windscreen blade to a wiper arm 2 on which is a shoulder 34, comprises a channel-shaped body 14, 15 and a blade spring 22 mounted therein to define therewith a recess of near-uniform rectangular crosssection throughout its length into which the arm 2 can be inserted from one end of the body, the clip having a shoulder (e.g. the edge of a hole 33) to cooperate with the shoulder 34, the spring having a free end 27 whilst its other end is formed as an abutment 25 to limit movement of the arm into the body. The clip 8, has a top wall 14 and side walls 15, jointed by flared portions 15<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 5, to spaced ears 16 which are connected by a pivot pin 17, Fig. 3, to a primary member 9 of a pressure distributing assembly for the wiper blade (not shown). The side walls 15 have pairs of internal projections 30, 301 and also L-shaped recesses, the latter each comprising legs 28, 29. The spring member 22, Fig. 6, has locking portions 23 to engage in the recesses, a portion 25 to be engaged by the end of the wiper arm 2, Fig. 3, a portion 24 which pivots on the projections 30<SP>1</SP> and a portion 27 which with a flared portion 35 on the wall 14 serves as a flared entrance to receive the arm 2. The top wall 14 has the hole 33 to receive the shoulder 34 on the arm 2. In a modification the shoulder 34 may be on the underside of the arm 2 and engage a shoulder on the spring member, the aperture in the clips then be omitted. The clip may be connected to the blade assembly by a spoon member instead of as shown in Fig. 3.
