Abstract
821,123. Ventilation. CARRIER ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. Aug. 30, 1957, No. 27461/57. Class 137 An air conditioning system for a multiroom building comprises an air conditioning unit having a plenum forming conduit and a heat exchanger, the conduit being spaced from and beneath the heat exchanger and being connected to a riser from a supply of primary conditioned air, and means co-operating with openings spaced apart lengthwise of the conduit, facing and adjacent the heat exchanger, to discharge primary air and induce secondary air to pass through the heat exchanger. As shown, primary air from a riser 5 passes along a conduit 12 arranged below a heatexchanger 15 comprising a coil and fins. The conduit 12 may have a butterfly valve 41 and sound absorbing sleeve 42 and be arranged with holes 43, into which plugs 51 or nozzles 46 of the desired size may be inserted, below the heat exchanger. The induced air and primary air mix, pass through the heat exchanger and are discharged through a grille 57. The system is stated to be particularly suitable for application to buildings which have existing heat exchangers. Specification 809,904 is referred to.
