Abstract

820,407. Windows. GENERAL BRONZE CORPORATION. June 15, 1956, No. 18585/56. Class 20(3) [Also in Group XXV] In a metal window wherein the sash 2 is rotatable within a stationary frame 1 on a central vertical axis, the pivots comprise lower and upper pintles 18, 28 vertically slidable through bearing members 14, 27 projecting from apertured blocks 11 in the lower and upper rails of the sash, the pintles normally projecting into bearing members 15, 23 carried in pockets 48, 33<SP>1</SP> in the sill and header of the stationary frame. The pintles are locked by screws 20, 29 passing through slots 22 in the rails so that they may be withdrawn to permit removal of the sash. Bowed resilient sealing strips 50, 42 project from the pockets in the sill and header of the stationary frame into channels 55, 38 extending along the lower and upper rails of the sash, the strips having actuating members 51, 44 with inturned ends 52, 45 engaging the bottoms of the pockets 48, 33<SP>1</SP>. Portions of the sealing strips are cut away around the bearing members 14, 15, 23, 27; the resilient strips retain the sash in closed position even when unlocked, and also retain it in various open positions. In a modification the sealing strips are carried by the sash.
