Abstract
785,705. Automatic catches. GENERAL BRONZE CORPORATION. July 30, 1954, No. 22386/54. Class 44 [Also in Group X] A pair of sashes 30, 32, Fig. 1 which slide horizontally in parallel guide channels 50, 52, Fig. 5 are locked in the closed position by a latch 106 engaging keeper 104. The keeper 104 has a short leg 108 screwed to the face of meeting rail 48 of sash 32 and a long leg 112, Fig. 7, passing through a slot in the draught excluder flange 90, Fig. 2, of rail 48. The latch 106 is vertically slidable on screw 120 by means of slot 122 therein and has portions 116, 118 which embrace inner and outer surfaces of meeting rail 40. The dog portion 124 of the latch is gravity urged to enter detent 114 of the keeper 104. When sash 30 is open it may be locked in several positions by a sliding latch 128 on the bottom of meeting rail 40 which is guided by screw 130 and slot 132 and hub 136 and slot 134, and enters a series of notches 126 in the flanges of the lower guide channel 50. The sash 32 may be locked by a pivoted catch 140 on parting bead 58 engaging a slot in a handle portion 148 carried by vertical rail 46. A handle 150<SP>1</SP> on sash 30 may be similarly provided with a pivoted co-operating catch. Specification 785,706 is referred to.
