Abstract

The Anti-burglar barrier "E", is a length of material of either timber, metals or upvc, which is secured to a patio door sub-frame above the door "A" entrance. This eliminates any lifting tolerance of the patio door when the patio door is in the closed position. When the patio door is closed the Anti-burglar barrier is inaccessible making it tamper proof.

Description

Patio door Anti-burglar Barrier This invention relates to an Anti- burglar barrier to fit to a patio door frame.
Patio doors are universally known and consist of a patio door frame, a patio door and a fixed panel. There are many styles and can consist of any number of doors or panels. They can be made from a number of materials: Wood, upvc, metal alloy or any configuration of these materials. They are all of similar construction.
It can be expensive and unsightly to fix security locks, as patio doors are notoriusly known for easy access for intruders to enter the premises.
According to the present invention there is provided an Anti-burglar barrier with means of securing to the patio door frame.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be descibed by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Fig 1 Shows Anti-burglar barrier.
Fig 2 Shows in perspective the Anti-burglar barrier in position upon the patio door frame above door entrance.
Fig 3 Shows an end elevation through section of the Anti-burglar barrier in position above patio door.
Refering to the drawing, the sub-frame "C" is secured to the structure of the building. The aluminium extrusion "D" is secured to sub-frame "C". The panel "B" is fixed to the aluminium extrusion "D". To enable door "A" to be fitted, manufacturers leave a gap in the head section of the aluminium extrusion "D".
In order to fit the Anti-burglar barrier "E", place door "A" directly in front of fixed panel "B" Anti-burglar barrier "E" is secured through aluminiun extrusion "D" into sub frame "C". When door "A" is in the closed position, Anti-burglar barrier "E" eliminates all the lifting tolerance and when door is locked with the normal lock, door "A" cannot be removed. To remove door "A" for repair or replacement move it to the open position in front of panel "B".

Claims (4)

  1. Claims
A A patio door Anti-burglar barrier can be produced from severel different types of material. Example: Timber, plastics and metals. It can be made to any length, any width or any depth to suit any patio door frame. It is simple to fit to existing patio door frames, already in any building or in storage. It is cheap to produce.
It fills a long standing need. It removes the tolerance betwecn the patio door and the patio door frame. It eliminates the ncccssity to buy and fit expensive locking devices.
  2. 2 A patio door Anti-burglar barrier as claimed in claim I(One), can be fitted by the manufacturer at the time of manufacture, to the patio door frame.
  3. 3 A patio door Anti-burglar barrier as claimed in claim I(one) and claim 2(Two) becomes inaccessible when a patio door is lockcd, making it tamper proof.
