Abstract

969,630. Detachable sliding windows. ELLIOTT BERESFORD & SON Ltd. March 5, 1962 [March 7, 1961], No. 8351/61. Heading E1J. A double window is formed by the combination of, an inner window frame 10, 11 containing overlapping sliding sashes 17, 18, and an outer window frame 13 containing at least one sliding sash. The inner frame 10, 11 may be attached to the outer frame by setscrews, or a tongue and groove joint. The inner sashes have vertical draught excluding strips between them and the stiles, and are sealed to each other in the closed position by a vertical strip 24 attached to one vertical internal sash member. The inner sashes slide on aluminium guide rails 15, 16 and are guided by top rails 14 which extend into the top sash members a short distance only, enabling said inner sashes 17, 18 to be removed from the frame 10, 11.
