1302854 Vehicle windows WILMOT-BREEDEN Ltd 14 April 1970 [17 Jan 1969] 2969/ 69 Heading E1J In a vehicle door of the type where no window frame extends above sill level and two guide tracks for a vertically sliding window pane 3 are mounted inside the door, one of the spaced elongated channel-section tracks 6 is inset inwardly of the corresponding window side edge 8 (see Fig. 1) and displaced out of the plane of the window (see Fig. 2), and the other track 5 is disposed alongside the other edge 7 and in the plane of the window, guide blocks 9, 10 being attached to the lower edge of the window and slidably engaging in the guide track channels 5, 6. The guide blocks 9, 10 are dumb-bell shaped with a lower bulbous portion (9a), 10a which closely fits the track channel 5, 6 and an upper narrower bulbous portion (9b), 10b which closely fits only a narrower top portion (5a), 6a of the channel 5, 6, thereby to hold the window firmly in its closed position. The shape of the channel where it merges with the narrower top portion (see ramp 14 in Fig. 2) causes the window to tilt slightly inwardly at the end of the closing movement against a peripheral seal. Sealing strips may be fitted along the door sill on each side of the window.
