Abstract

1,037,128. Sliding windows. BULL'S METAL & MARINE Ltd. March 4, 1965 [March 23, 1964], No. 12250/64. Heading E1J. A sliding window has at least one fixed light, 1, 2 and at least one slidable sash 18 mounting pane 3 on rollers on a track rail 24 and is urged by leaf springs 32, 33, one at each corner of the sash, to compress a felt-covered neoprene or soft plastic sealing strip 23 between the sash 18 and the window frame 4. As shown strip 23 is fixed to the sash 18. The lower track 24 is sectionally removable to permit removal of the slidable sash, the track being of channel section within which section the leaf springs are secured in recesses in the top and bottom track members, said springs engaging the sash within the channel and in the closed position of the window bear at their curved ends 33 against a cam-like part of the housing of the rollers to put the springs under stress. A spring loaded plunger 35 engages notches 37, 38 to lock the window in the two positions. A stopper preventing movement of the sash past its normal closed position can be removed for further movement of the sash to facilitate cleaning of all panes.
