Abstract

1,122,382. Double windows; removable sashes. COMPONENT COORDINATION Ltd. 12 Feb., 1965 [4 Dec., 1963], No. 47836/ 63. Heading E1J. An assembly for fitting into an existing window frame comprises upper and lower rigid polyvinyl chloride guides, (not shown). having down- and up-standing longitudinal ribs respectively thereon, and sliding panes. e.g. 31 mounted, with or without interposed resilient glazing strips, in generally H-sectioned extruded plastics sash members, e.g. 39, the ribs being of such a depth that the panes. which are slidable thereon, can be removed by raising them as far as possible, and pulling out the lower parts thereof. The sash members have flanges 28 therealong, which serve as handles, and each may have barbs or serrations in either or both of the channel sections integral therewith. A resilient T-sectioned draught excluder 41 may be gripped by the barbs in one channel 40, and engage with the opposed channel of the adjacent sliding sash member. Flanged tubular plastics draught excluding strips may be employed down the sides of the window opening, together with generally angle-sectioned strips between overlapping panes, (23 and 25 respectively, Fig. 3, not shown). Four panes may be used (as shown), or two, (Figs. 1-3, not shown), or a single non-sliding pane.
